Hood or no hood? Pocket or none? The choice is yours!
KNITS & SERGERS 101
Knits (or stretchy fabrics) are everywhere! In our modern lives, we wear far more garments made of knit fabrics than wovens, their non-stretchy counterparts. Sewing with knits (stretchy fabrics) is not to be feared, but it does require a few key skills to be successful. Bonus: Learn to use a serger!
Taking this FULL-DAY WORKSHOP will open the world of garment making to you, and soon you will be making your very own:
T-shirts
Sweats
Casual dresses
Skirts
Children's wear
And more!
Your instructor will lead you through key skills like:
Selecting the right stitch for the right fabric
Using different types of needles for the job
Following a commercial pattern
Working with knit fabrics
LEARNING TO USE A SERGER - a serger is a 2-needle, 4-thread, cut-and-sew machine that is famously difficult hard to thread. Demystify the beast in this class to make professional-looking knit garments!
Previous Sewing Experience - This is not a beginner class. You will have the most fun and get the most out of this day if you have some experience...
Sewing straight and curved lines
Following a commercial pattern (even one or two)
Making garments (even PJ pants)
