Teach Sewing with Us

Calgary Sewing School is seeking experienced sewing instructors to teach small-group classes for children and/or teens in a studio-based learning environment in 2026.

This is a professional contract role, not a casual or drop-in position. We are looking for instructors who bring strong technical sewing skills, excellent communication, and a genuine ability to connect with young people.

About the role

  • Teach small-group sewing classes for children and/or teens

  • Guide students through longer-term sewing projects that build skills over time

  • Support students individually while maintaining a calm, structured classroom

  • Communicate clearly and proactively with the school owner regarding scheduling, attendance, and student progress

This role is a strong fit if you:

  • Have solid, well-rounded sewing skills and are confident with a range of projects

  • Are comfortable using and troubleshooting sewing machines independently and assisting others

  • Are excellent with children and teens — patient, encouraging, and able to maintain clear expectations

  • Communicate clearly and professionally in both written and spoken English

  • Are reliable, punctual, and well-organized

Please note

  • This is a contractor position, not casual employment

  • Instructors are expected to arrive prepared and communicate proactively

  • Teaching experience with children or teens is strongly preferred

How to apply

Please email hello@calgarysewingschool.com with:

  • A brief introduction outlining your sewing background

  • Any experience teaching or working with children or teens

  • Your availability in July for camps and during the school year for weekly kids’ classes

  • A short note explaining why this role is a good fit for you

Thank you for your interest. Only applications that clearly address the above will be contacted.
